Starting with Mugen

I no longer work on Mugen, the version below is the latest and last version.

Are you new to Mugen? Then you're on the right page. Here you will find all the information you need to get started.

First of all, click on one of the download links below to download a premade Mugen game.

Now that you have downloaded the game, extract it using winrar or a similar program.

Once the game is extracted, you can play with the characters and stages that I already added in the game for you. To launch the game, simply click on mugen.exe.

Once you find a character you want to add follow these steps:

1- Download your character and extract the files.

2- Drag the character's folder in the "chars" folder.

3- Open VSelect.exe then choose Mugen.exe when the window appears. Once the option window appears simply click "OK".

4- At the left of the screen you should see a list of characters, simply click your character's name and drag it on an empty square in the right window.

5- Laucnh mugen and your character should appear in the square where you dragged him.

Once you find a stage you want to add, follow these steps:

1- Download the stage.

2- Extract the files if necessary. Usually, you should have 2 files: stage.def and stage.sff. (sometimes a stage also has music which comes in the .mp3 format.)

3- Drag the .def and .sff files in the "stages" folder. If you have a .mp3 file, drag in the "sound" folder.

4- Open VSelect.exe then choose Mugen.exe when the window appears. Once the option window appears simply click "OK".

5- When VSelect is open, click Edit at the top, then select "Open select.def".

6-  Once the file is open, scroll down until you find [ExtraStages] category. There you will need to write the name of the stage you want to add. (You should already have some examples of how to proceed with the stages I added.) What you need to add is as follow: stages/yourstagename.def

**Do not forget to add .def at the end of the stage name or it will not work.

7- Once added, simply save the file and launch mugen, your stage should now appear in the game.
